The Rose that Grew from Concrete

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams,                                          
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

Ever since I read the poem off the poster in my English class room it has always managed to come up time and time again. I never thought about the meaning before, maybe I liked it just because of the mention of such a pretty flower. When I actually put some mental thought into it I admired the rose that was featured, representing all the people who rose above despite the situation that was created for them.
